The Creative Process

I’m super excited to be writing my very first blog!  When thinking about what I was going to write (feeling the pressure to make this first entry special) I was staring at the blank white typing space in front of me and thinking about how it really reflects so much about the creative process for any project.  A painter sits down in front of a blank canvas- a ceramics artist sits down in front of a slab of clay- a scrapper sits in front of scraps of papers and embellishments . . . really there is nothing there.  You have the materials, but without the creative mind and drive behind it you will only end up with a white board, a piece of clay, or some random colorful pieces of paper.  But all it takes is one right stroke of the brush, one beautiful beginning formation of clay, or two scraps of paper that contrast and compliment each other at the same time, and there you go . . . you’ve started the process of creating.  I LOVE that moment . . . when I finally figure out what I want to do lol.  Of course!  But what happens when you sit down in front of the materials and nothing happens?  Your mind draws a blank and you wonder what just happened . . . “how can I not think of anything creative??”  For some this might not be too bad.  You can go to sleep and start fresh in the morning.  But what happens when you have a deadline (Ah! The pressures of a student!!)  You have to come up with something genius and do it fast! This is where the support comes in.  At school I find classmates and see what they are working on and at home I turn to my favorite bloggers to see what creative inspiration they might be able to offer.  Then I am ready to begin the creative process :)

So  I guess this is really my very loooooooooong way of saying . . . “Thank you!” Thank you to every blogger that’s written/ posted pictures and for every youtube subscriber that has posted a video that has taught me something new or just inspired me.  Thank you!!
