Greetings from a girl on vacation :)

I finally pryed myself away from my book http://www.randomhouse.com/bantamdell/kinsella/books/display.pperl?isbn=9780385342025 (loving it!!) this afternoon and thought I would do some cleaning and check emails, but I was easily distracted by a tennis match on TV . . . how I ever get anything done is so amazing to me!! Oh well, 4 day weekends are fantastic . . . more time to get things done (or in my case, more time to think about what I should do and then procrastinate until last minute :P Hey, just being honest here!
Anyways, just wanted to drop by and share a layout I did of me and my best friend (my sister . . . awwww, cheesy I know ;-). Is it just me, or does this page have a major 70’s feel? Ironically enough, I had actually planned a strictly black and white page in my head before starting. The yellow-orangeish printing job my printer made suddenly changed the plans. That’s okay though . . . I like it this way much better :) Black and white is just too serious for our quirky pics.
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!!
Here’s what I did:
~ Used 12X12” green cardstock as my background
~ Tore out a few pages from an old magazine and cut out circles of different sizes using a fiskars circle template and xacto knife.
~ Distressed the magazine circles using Ranger inks in peeled paint, fired brick, dusty concord, spiced marmalade and broken china (love these colors!) I love the effect this makes- you get vibrant color, and it tones down the text at the same time!
~ Glued circles randomly all over the page.
~ Cut 5X12” strips of orange cardtock and glued to bottom and right side to serve as text and picture bases.
~ Cut 4X12” strip of red cardstock and applied dimensionals to the backing to prop the sticker up.
~ Glued down pictures (these were printed on regular white cardstock).
~ I used alpha fetti stickers by Making Memories to write out MY magazine title :) . . . “my sister my best friend” (These stickers are SOOO fantastic for callaging . . . it’s so much faster than searching for letters in a magazine!)

I thougth I would try something new tonight (hee ... when am I NOT saying that?). I'm linking you up with some of my current interests and hoping maybe some of them will spark your interest too. There's some food, a project idea, and an art show thrown in for good measure. Click away and I'll catch you Friday :) Labels: Link Happy
